CLICK IMAGE TO VIEW GALLERY. Another night, another show. I was back at Southpaw in Brooklyn for another intimate music listening session this past Tuesday. My good friend, and stellar singer, Shyvonne was performing along side a female dominated line-up, including the likes of Jasmine Solano, Zoe Kravitz of Elelvator Fight, and Jack of J*DaVeY. I was excited to see Shyvonne live because I never had before. Her turquoise locks and loud wardrobe became less apparent as she began to belt out well-written verses over charming instrumentals. She brought out two dancers, Amanda and Michelle, to perform “Damn” with a verse from Miss Solano. She capped this with an acapella that transitioned into Jasmine’s set. Jasmine is no stranger to this site as of late and put on another captivating performance as an MC. You could hear the crowd get more intrigued by her presence as her set continued and commenced with a short stint behind the turntables. I knew least about Elevator Fight heading into the evening. With a good balance between aggressive chord strumming and some delicate melodies, Elevator Fight satisfied the patrons that came out to see them. I shot a J*DaVeY show back in April at SOB’s and was impressed by their performance. This time around was a more mellow effort on the smaller, darker stage. The set was different and a little less entertaining than a few months ago, but still good at the least.
